# Independence

No one can pay to change a fact on OlaSail, or how it is labelled.

When a rule here changes, we list the change here first, with its date.

## The rules we keep

1. 1

   A place is here because sailors stay there.

   A marina, buoy field or restaurant is on the site because sailors can stay the night there. A fact is labelled "From the operator" because the operator answered our questions or published it itself.
2. 2

   No one can pay to change a label.

   A label says how a fact was checked: with the operator, with an official source, in person, by our own measurement or by a sailor who was there. Only a new check can change it. [The seven labels](https://olasail.com/about/how-we-check/#labels)

## Your data

You can read every page without an account. We count visits with Google Analytics, loaded through Google Tag Manager, and Cloudflare Web Analytics, only if you say yes to Analytics in the cookie banner. The banner has two choices: Essential, which keeps the site working and remembers your choice, and Analytics.

We use the figures to see which pages help sailors and which need work. We never sell your data. You can change your choice at any time with "Privacy and cookie settings" at the foot of every page. [Privacy policy](https://olasail.com/privacy/)

## Photos

Every photo names its author and its licence. We use photos we are free to use, and photos sailors send us with their permission. We don't use AI images of real places. [Photo licence](https://olasail.com/about/photos/)
