Buoys, anchoring and a small port, Šolta

# Nečujam bay buoys

Nečujam is the largest bay on Šolta, 9 NM from Split, with coves where yachts take a buoy or anchor in 3 to 40 m. It is open to the bura and other northerly winds, the county's anchorage study says, so leave before a bura.

## Tonight in Nečujam bay

Can we stay here tonight? Yes, unless a bura or a strong northerly is forecast. (Official source, 26 Sep 2026) [The forecast for the bay](https://olasail.com/moorings/necujam-buoys/#wx)

- The bay: Nečujam is the largest bay on Šolta, about 1 NM east of Rogač. Boats anchor in its coves: Mala Maslinica, Potkamenica, Šumpjevina, Supetar at the head of the bay, and Tiha. (Official source, 26 Sep 2026) Supetar cove, at the head of the bay, has a hotel, sports courts and a pier. (Official source, 26 Sep 2026)
- Buoys: In 2018 the county decided to grant a 10-year concession for an anchorage for 48 boats in the Piškera and Maslinica coves. Its 2021 study lists no concession there, so it is not confirmed that buoys are laid. (Official source, 30 Sep 2026) The 2026 buoy price: unknown. [Tell us about the buoy price at Nečujam](https://olasail.com/about/corrections/#fact=necujam.buoyPrice) The county's 2021 anchorage study listed no concession for a buoy field in Nečujam, only a request for one in Mala Maslinica cove, and Šolta's proposals for fields in four more coves. (Official source, 26 Sep 2026) [How mooring buoys work](https://olasail.com/moorings/#buoys) · [Picking up a mooring buoy, step by step](https://olasail.com/moorings/med-mooring/#buoy)
- Fees: Nečujam is a class III county port: €3 a metre a day for a boat of 10.01 to 15 m, so €36 for a 12 m boat on the quay. (Official source, 26 Sep 2026) On a buoy in its anchorage you pay 30% less, about €25 for a 12 m boat, and at anchor half, €18. That applies only inside the port's own area. In the Split-Dalmatia county ports, catamarans pay twice the rate per metre. (Official source, 26 Sep 2026) Only a company with a concession for that anchorage, or the port authority inside a public port, may charge you for anchoring. Anywhere else, nobody may. (Official source, 25 Sep 2026) You pay the port authority's attendant in the port, in cash or by card, and get an invoice. (Official source, 26 Sep 2026)
- Anchoring: Boats anchor in 3 to 40 m. The bottom is mostly sand and mud, and the sand holds well. (Official source, 26 Sep 2026) Piškera cove holds the remains of an ancient fish pond, a protected site: keep your anchor off it. (Official source, 26 Sep 2026) No anchoring within 150 m of a natural beach, under the 2025 ordinance. (Official source, 25 Sep 2026) [Anchoring rules and fees](https://olasail.com/moorings/anchoring-rules-and-fees/)
- Water, fuel: The port authority lists no water, power, fuel, showers or waste service for boats in Nečujam. (Official source, 26 Sep 2026) The nearest fuel pump it lists is in Rogač, 2 NM west. (Official source, 26 Sep 2026) (Measured by us, 7 Oct 2026) For water and showers, [Maslinica marina](https://olasail.com/moorings/maslinica-marina/) is 8 NM away and [ACI Marina Split](https://olasail.com/moorings/aci-marina-split/) 9 NM.
- Ashore: Restaurants, a club and a shop in Nečujam. For a doctor, the post office or a bank, go to Grohote, and for repairs to Maslinica or Rogač. (Official source, 26 Sep 2026)

## Shelter by wind in Nečujam bay

The bay opens to the north, towards Split, and branches into coves like the fingers of a hand. What the county's anchorage study says, wind by wind, is below.

- Bura and tramontana from the northeast and north: Open. The bay is open to northerly winds and their waves. A storm bura raises a rough to very rough sea in it. (Official source, 26 Sep 2026) In a bura it is better to anchor close to the east shore, north of the pier in Supetar cove. (Official source, 26 Sep 2026) Our advice: if a strong bura is forecast, leave for the south side of the island. [Summer storms and the bura](https://olasail.com/croatia/safety-and-emergencies/#storms)
- Jugo from the southeast: Some slop. A strong jugo sends a slop into the bay. (Official source, 26 Sep 2026)
- Maestral from the northwest: Nečujam is sheltered from every wind except northerlies, and so from the maestral. Our cautious answer: expect some swell near the mouth of the bay in a strong maestral. Our skipper reviewer hasn't checked this yet. (Third-party source, 26 Sep 2026)
- The current in the bay: Tidal currents run at up to 0.3 knots, and a storm bura can raise them to 0.8 knots. (Official source, 26 Sep 2026)

Coming in. A light stands on Cape Bad, about 0.7 NM west of the bay. (Official source, 26 Sep 2026) A sewage outfall runs 0.45 NM out to the northeast from the cove east of Rat point. (Official source, 26 Sep 2026) Keep your anchor clear of it.

Within 300 m of the shore, in narrow channels and near harbours and anchorages, go no faster than 8 knots (Article 50). (Official source, 26 Sep 2026) [HHI nautical charts](https://www.hhi.hr/en/products-and-services/nautical-charts) (Official source, 25 Sep 2026)

## Wind and sea, next 3 days

For Nečujam bay. Don't stay the night if a bura or a strong northerly is forecast. Split, Trogir, Šolta, Brač and Vis all lie in the Middle Adriatic area of the DHMZ marine forecast. (Official source, 26 Sep 2026)

How to read this forecast

Each part of the day shows its strongest hourly wind and gust, and its highest wave, in Croatian time. The words follow the Beaufort scale, and the model can't tell a real bura from any other northeast wind.
