Town quay and buoys, Vis

# Vis town harbour

Vis town harbour is the main port of the island of Vis, a county port with about 100 berths on two town quays and buoys in the bay. A 12 m boat pays about €119.15 a day on the quay in 2026. Treat the main quay as open to N and NE winds.

## Tonight in Vis town harbour

Can we stay here tonight? Yes, all year, on the town quay or a buoy in the bay. (Official source, 26 Sep 2026)

- On the quay: Vis town harbour is a class I.B county port: €5 a metre a day for a boat of 10.01 to 15 m, so €60 for a 12 m boat on the town quay, all year. (Official source, 26 Sep 2026) Gradina Vis d.o.o. charges €59.15 a day for a boat of 11.01 to 12 m for its port services: water, power, toilets, rubbish and help with the lines. It may take 20% off in April, May and October. (From the operator, 26 Sep 2026) About €119.15 a day for a 12 m monohull on the town quay in 2026: the county's port fee of €60 and Gradina Vis's port charge of €59.15. (Measured by us, 26 Sep 2026) In the Split-Dalmatia county ports, catamarans pay twice the rate per metre. (Official source, 26 Sep 2026)
- On a buoy: When the quays are full, or if you prefer, you can moor in the harbour's anchorage just off the quays. (From the operator, 26 Sep 2026) On a buoy in the harbour's anchorage the port fee is €3.50 a metre, so €42 a day for a 12 m boat. At anchor with no buoy it is €2.50 a metre, so €30. (Official source, 26 Sep 2026) Boats on the buoys or at anchor may use the sailors' washrooms on the quay for €20 a day. (From the operator, 26 Sep 2026) [Picking up a mooring buoy, step by step](https://olasail.com/moorings/med-mooring/#buoy)
- Paying: Each quay has a reception, with washrooms for sailors next to it. You pay there. (From the operator, 26 Sep 2026) You pay the port authority's attendant in the port, in cash or by card, and get an invoice. (Official source, 26 Sep 2026)
- Booking: Unknown. [Tell us how to book a berth at Vis town](https://olasail.com/about/corrections/#fact=vistown.booking) [Booking town quays and buoy fields](https://olasail.com/moorings/booking-a-berth/#quays)
- Berths: About 60 yachts on the main quay and 40 in Kut, on lazy lines, with water and power posts. (From the operator, 26 Sep 2026) Depth: mostly 2.5 to 3.8 m deep along the main quay, which is about 300 m long. (From the operator, 26 Sep 2026)
- Arriving: Call the harbour assistant on [+385 91 227 7551](tel:+385912277551) as you come in. (From the operator, 26 Sep 2026) Ferries and catamarans come in every day and can raise a big wash, so leave enough room between your stern and the quay. - Water, power: Included in the port charge on the quay, with a water and power post at each berth. (From the operator, 26 Sep 2026) The port supplies power, water and diesel, and mechanics and electricians can be found in town. (Official source, 26 Sep 2026)
- Washrooms: Next to the reception on each quay, included in the port charge. (From the operator, 26 Sep 2026) Boats on the buoys or at anchor may use the sailors' washrooms on the quay for €20 a day. (From the operator, 26 Sep 2026)
- Fuel: Vis has a fuel station for boats. (Official source, 26 Sep 2026) The fuel dock is on the west shore of the harbour, north of the ferry pier. (Measured by us, 26 Sep 2026)
- Rubbish: Taken with the port charge, in bags, from boats on the quay. (From the operator, 26 Sep 2026)
- Ashore: Shops, restaurants and hotels, a doctor, a vet, a post office and cash machines. A ferry and a fast catamaran to Split, and a bus to Komiža, 10 km away. (Official source, 26 Sep 2026)
- Contact: Vis town harbour is a county port open to public traffic, run by the Split-Dalmatia County Port Authority. (Official source, 26 Sep 2026) Gradina Vis d.o.o. runs the port services for the port authority: it helps with the lines, supplies water and power, takes the rubbish and collects the fees. (From the operator, 26 Sep 2026) Reception on the main quay: [+385 21 718 746](tel:+38521718746). In Kut: [+385 21 711 007](tel:+38521711007). ## Shelter by wind in Vis town harbour

Vis town harbour lies at the head of a deep bay on the north coast of Vis. The port authority and the operator describe its shelter differently, so we show both below, with our cautious answer.

- Bura, tramontana from the northeast and north: Treat the main quay as open. Two checked sources disagree, so here are both, and our cautious answer. Sources disagree on shelter in Vis town harbour Our answer: Treat the main quay as open to winds from the north and northeast (Sources disagree, 26 Sep 2026). Treat Kut as open to the northwest and to summer squalls from the west (Sources disagree, 26 Sep 2026) Deep in St George's bay and sheltered by the islet of Host and the Prirovo peninsula, "no wind" troubles a sailor here: [Split-Dalmatia County Port Authority: the port of Vis](https://www.lusdz.hr/o-nama/popis-luka-pod-nadleznoscu-lusdz/luka/1241) (Official source, 26 Sep 2026) Only winds from the north and northeast bother the main quay, whose east end is less sheltered. Kut is more open to the northwest, and a squall from the west needs care: [Gradina Vis d.o.o.: its port services (mooring and unmooring) in the port of Vis](https://gradinavis.hr/djelatnosti/nautika-usluge-priveza-i-odveza-brodova/) (From the operator, 26 Sep 2026)
- Maestral and squalls from the northwest and west: Treat Kut as open. The operator says Kut is more open to the northwest than the main quay, and that a summer squall from the west needs care there. (Sources disagree, 26 Sep 2026)

The approach. Coming in, watch for the rocks called Krava and Volići, the port authority warns. (Official source, 26 Sep 2026)

Ferries and catamarans come in every day and can raise a big wash, so leave enough room between your stern and the quay. (From the operator, 26 Sep 2026)

## Wind and sea, next 3 days

For Vis town harbour. A northerly or northeasterly reaches the main quay.

How to read this forecast

Each part of the day shows its strongest hourly wind and gust, and its highest wave, in Croatian time. The words follow the Beaufort scale, and the model can't tell a real bura from any other northeast wind.
