## Tonight in Komiža

Can we stay here tonight? Yes: on the town quay, on a buoy in the bay, or at anchor. The quay and the buoys fill by late afternoon in July and August.

- On the quay: Komiža is a class I.B county port: €5 a metre a day for a boat of 10.01 to 15 m, so €60 for a 12 m boat, all year. (Official source, 26 Sep 2026) In the Split-Dalmatia county ports, catamarans pay twice the rate per metre. (Official source, 26 Sep 2026) You pay the port authority's attendant in the port, in cash or by card, and get an invoice. (Official source, 26 Sep 2026)
- On a buoy: Two buoy fields in the bay, under a county concession held by Nautički centar Komiža d.o.o.: Lučica, for 19 boats up to 12 m, and Pol Guspu, for 17 boats up to 16 m. (Official source, 26 Sep 2026) The 2026 buoy price: unknown. [Tell us about the buoy price in 2026 at Komiža](https://olasail.com/about/corrections/#fact=komiza.buoyPrice) In 2023 a buoy cost €45 a night for a boat of 10 to 12.49 m, paid in cash. VAT, rubbish collection and the showers in the harbour's public toilets were included; water and power were extra, at the port authority's rates. (From the operator, 26 Sep 2026)
- At anchor: In a public port's anchorage you pay the berth fee less 30% on a buoy, or less 50% at anchor. (Official source, 25 Sep 2026) No anchoring within 150 m of a natural beach, under the 2025 ordinance. (Official source, 25 Sep 2026) [Where boats anchor](https://olasail.com/places/komiza/#anchor) [Anchoring rules and fees](https://olasail.com/moorings/anchoring-rules-and-fees/)
- Booking: Nautički centar Komiža d.o.o. runs the port reception at Riva Sv. Mikule 1, open from 1 Apr to 31 Oct, phone [+385 91 271 3002](tel:+385912713002). (From the operator, 26 Sep 2026) Booking a day ahead: unknown. [Tell us whether you can book a day ahead at Komiža](https://olasail.com/about/corrections/#fact=komiza.booking) [Booking a berth, and when to arrive](https://olasail.com/moorings/booking-a-berth/)
- Water, power: On the quay the port charge includes water, power, rubbish and the washroom with showers for men and women. In 2023 it was €35 a day for a boat of 10.01 to 15 m. (From the operator, 26 Sep 2026) Metered water costs €5 a cubic metre and power €0.68 a kWh. Without a meter, a boat up to 20 m pays a flat €1.20 a metre for water and €1.20 a metre for power, before VAT. (Official source, 26 Sep 2026)
- Fuel: The port authority lists a fuel pump for boats in Vis town, with power, water and repairs, and none in Komiža. For serious repairs, it says, go to Vis. (Official source, 26 Sep 2026)
- Ashore: The port authority lists 390 m of quay in Komiža, and shops, a market, a fish market, a clinic and a pharmacy in town. A bus runs to Vis town and its ferry, and small boats to Biševo. Its staff answer on +385 91 271 3000 and +385 91 271 3002. (Official source, 26 Sep 2026)
- Wind: Take care on the harbour in a westerly storm. Westerlies and south-westerlies raise high waves in Komiža bay (Third-party source, 27 Sep 2026), and its buoys take swell in any southerly. (Third-party source, 27 Sep 2026) Our cautious answer: if a westerly, a south-westerly or a thunderstorm is forecast, decide by lunchtime and go round to Vis town. Our skipper reviewer hasn't checked this yet. [Shelter by wind](https://olasail.com/places/komiza/#shelter)
- The office: The harbourmaster's office on the Riva is open on Wednesdays only, phone +385 21 713 085. The Vis town office covers the rest of the week, phone +385 21 711 111. (Official source, 26 Sep 2026)

## Ways to stay the night

4 ways to stay the night: the quay, two buoy fields and the open bay, all within a few minutes of the Riva. Prices are for a 12 m boat. The buoy fields are drawn from the county's concession plan. ### The town quay

Stern-to inside the breakwater, below the Kaštel and the Riva. Night 3 of our route.

Komiža bay is open to the west and south-west, and these winds raise high waves in it (Third-party source, 27 Sep 2026). Berths inside the breakwater are sheltered (Third-party source, 27 Sep 2026). Its buoys lie close together, are open to westerlies, and take swell in any wind with south in it. A bura blows across them in shifting gusts but raises no waves. (Third-party source, 28 Sep 2026) Our cautious answer: if a westerly, south-westerly or thunderstorm is forecast, lie inside the breakwater or go round to Vis town. Our skipper reviewer hasn't checked this yet.

€60 a day on the town quay, 12 m boat (Official source, 26 Sep 2026)

Paying, water and power

Metres count whole, so a 12.3 m boat pays for 13 m. You pay the port authority's attendant in the port, in cash or by card, and get an invoice. (Official source, 26 Sep 2026) Metered water costs €5 a cubic metre and power €0.68 a kWh. Without a meter, a boat up to 20 m pays a flat €1.20 a metre for water and €1.20 a metre for power, before VAT. (Official source, 26 Sep 2026)

### Lučica buoys

The field for smaller boats, just south of the harbour, a short row from the Riva. (Official source, 26 Sep 2026)

Komiža bay, where the Lučica buoys lie, is open to the west and south-west, and these winds raise high waves in it. The buoys take swell, and are exposed to any wind with south in it. Our cautious answer: treat Lučica as open from the west round to the south. Our skipper reviewer hasn't checked this yet. (Third-party source, 27 Sep 2026)

### Pol Guspu buoys

The field for larger boats, off the beach below the Gospa Gusarica church at the north of the bay. (Official source, 26 Sep 2026)

Westerly and south-westerly winds raise high waves in Komiža bay, where the Pol Guspu buoys lie, and the buoys take swell. Our cautious answer: expect swell in anything from the west to the south. Our skipper reviewer hasn't checked this yet. (Third-party source, 27 Sep 2026)

### At anchor in the bay

Room to anchor south of the buoy fields, clear of the fairway and the beaches. Boats anchor south-west of Komiža harbour. It isn't safe in a bura, which comes in very strong gusts away from the shore, westerlies raise high waves in the bay, and a strong jugo makes it worse. Our cautious answer: anchor off Komiža only in settled weather, keep clear of the fallen rocks along the shore, and leave for Vis town if a bura, a jugo, a westerly or a southerly is forecast. Our skipper reviewer hasn't checked this yet. (Third-party source, 28 Sep 2026)

In a public port's anchorage you pay the berth fee less 30% on a buoy, or less 50% at anchor. (Official source, 25 Sep 2026)

No anchoring within 150 m of a natural beach, under the 2025 ordinance. (Official source, 25 Sep 2026)

## Shelter by wind in Komiža

The bay faces west, towards [Biševo](https://olasail.com/places/bisevo-blue-cave/) and the open sea. The island shelters it from the bura and the jugo, but a westerly or a summer storm from the west sends a swell straight in.

- Westerly, summer storms from the west and southwest: Komiža bay is open to the west and south-west, and these winds raise high waves in it (Third-party source, 27 Sep 2026).
- Maestral from the northwest: Some swell on the outer buoys. The afternoon breeze blows along the coast, so Pol Guspu rolls a little and the quay stays calm.
- Bura and jugo from the northeast and southeast: Sheltered. Both blow over the island, so expect gusts down the hills rather than swell.
