Island in South Dalmatia

# Korčula island by boat

Korčula is a long island in South Dalmatia, south of Hvar and across a narrow channel from the Pelješac peninsula, and by sea its town is closer to Dubrovnik than to Split. For the night there is ACI Marina and the town quay in Korčula town at the east end, Marina Korkyra in Vela Luka at the west end, and smaller harbours at Lumbarda, Brna and Prigradica.

57 NM ACI Marina Split to Korčula town, about 9½ h (Measured by us, 7 Oct 2026)

48 NM Korčula town to ACI Marina Dubrovnik, about 8 h (Measured by us, 7 Oct 2026)

26 NM Vis town to Vela Luka, about 4½ h (Measured by us, 7 Oct 2026)

30 NM Vela Luka to Korčula town, about 5 h (Measured by us, 7 Oct 2026)

## Where to spend the night on Korčula

6 places to stay the night. Prices are for a 12 m boat in 2026. Shelter lines name the local winds: the jugo blows from the southeast and the bura from the northeast. [What each wind does. Our cautious answer: weather descriptions, not a forecast: read DHMZ's forecast for sailors before you go. Our skipper reviewer hasn't checked this yet.](https://olasail.com/places/korcula/#wind)

### ACI Marina Korčula

The marina beside the old town, in the east part of Korčula town's harbour. 166 berths, open all year, taking boats up to 50 m for a day. (From the operator, 30 Sep 2026) Charter fleets use ACI Marina Korčula, and between Sunday and Wednesday it often has no room for other visiting yachts. (Third-party source, 30 Sep 2026)

ACI Marina Korčula is sheltered from every wind, and its long breakwater keeps out the bura's waves. Our cautious answer: the east harbour around the marina is open to the bura and the jugo, so when either is forecast take a berth inside the breakwater, not on the quays outside it. Our skipper reviewer hasn't checked this yet. (Third-party source, 1 Oct 2026)

€136 a day in July, 12 m boat (From the operator, 7 Oct 2026)

Toilets and showers, laundry, restaurant, cash machine, parking and free Wi-Fi. (From the operator, 30 Sep 2026)

### Korčula town quay

The public town quay in the west harbour, below the old town walls. ACI warns that the western part of the town harbour should be avoided in summer storms. Our cautious answer: if a summer storm or a north-westerly is forecast, leave the west harbour for the east harbour or ACI Marina Korčula. Our skipper reviewer hasn't checked this yet. (Third-party source, 30 Sep 2026)

The west harbour is sheltered from south-easterly and south-westerly winds and from the bura, but a north-westerly sends waves in, and boats then leave for the east harbour or the marina. Our cautious answer: if a strong maestral or any north-westerly is forecast, spend the night in ACI Marina Korčula instead. Our skipper reviewer hasn't checked this yet. (Third-party source, 1 Oct 2026)

€60 a day on the town quay, 12 m boat (Official source, 30 Sep 2026)

€4 a metre from 1 Nov to 30 Apr. A boat lying alongside, and any catamaran, pays 80% more. Metres count whole, so a 12.3 m boat pays for 13 m. (Official source, 30 Sep 2026)

### Lumbarda

A marina in a bay at the east end of the island, south-east of Korčula town. Lučica Lumbarda, the municipality's company, runs Marina Lumbarda, which received its final use permit on 19 May 2026. (From the operator, 30 Sep 2026) Behind the breakwater are four piers. The two nearest it take larger boats, the two shorter ones only boats drawing up to 1.5 m, and it is shallow beyond the last pier. Our cautious answer: tell the marina your draught before you come in, and check the depth at the berth you are given. Our skipper reviewer hasn't checked this yet. (Third-party source, 30 Sep 2026)

Marina Lumbarda is sheltered from every wind by its angled breakwater. Our cautious answer: mind the shoal south-west of the breakwater as you come in. Our skipper reviewer hasn't checked this yet. (Third-party source, 30 Sep 2026)

Unknown a night, 12 m boat [Tell us about a night in Marina Lumbarda](https://olasail.com/about/corrections/#fact=lumbarda.price)

Rocks, shoals and islets lie off Lumbarda bay, and there is a shoal south-west of the marina's breakwater. The shallow west side of the bay is marked by an unlit green beacon, with a green light buoy north of it, and in the marina the space between the pontoons is tight, with the laid lines close to the surface. Our cautious answer: come in slowly, by day if you can, and keep clear of the south-west side of the breakwater. Our skipper reviewer hasn't checked this yet. (Third-party source, 30 Sep 2026)

Photo: “Sunny Brna” by [Muleni](https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Sunny_Brna.jpg), [CC0](http://creativecommons.org/publicdomain/zero/1.0/deed.en), cropped and resized

### Brna

A bay on the south coast of the island. Brna has visitors' buoys in the harbour and in Kosirina cove, north of the headland. (Third-party source, 30 Sep 2026) In Istruga, anchor in the middle of the cove in about 4 m, on mud that holds well. Our cautious answer: check the depth and set the anchor yourself before you leave the boat. Our skipper reviewer hasn't checked this yet. (Third-party source, 30 Sep 2026)

Only Istruga, the north arm of Brna bay, is sheltered from every wind. The bay is open to the bura, and strong northerly and north-westerly winds raise a strong chop in the harbour. Our cautious answer: if a bura or a strong northerly or north-westerly is forecast, anchor well inside Istruga or go elsewhere. Our skipper reviewer hasn't checked this yet. (Third-party source, 30 Sep 2026)

Unknown a night on a buoy, 12 m boat [Tell us about a night on a buoy in Brna](https://olasail.com/about/corrections/#fact=brna.price)

### Vela Luka

Marina Korkyra, at the head of the long bay at the west end of the island. Small boats can berth on the harbour quay or in the marina. (Official source, 30 Sep 2026)

Vela Luka harbour is sheltered from every wind, but a strong westerly sends waves in. Our cautious answer: if a strong westerly is forecast, expect waves in the harbour and movement on the berths, so double your lines and fenders. Our skipper reviewer hasn't checked this yet. (Third-party source, 1 Oct 2026)

€124 a day in July 2026, 12 m boat (From the operator, 5 Oct 2026)

Vela Luka harbour gets a seiche, an oscillation of the sea level, and at times thick fog that limits visibility and manoeuvring. Anchoring is not allowed in Kale cove. Our cautious answer: if the water starts to rise and fall, check your lines and fenders, don't set out in thick fog, and don't anchor in Kale cove. Our skipper reviewer hasn't checked this yet. (Third-party source, 30 Sep 2026)

Prigradica

### Prigradica

A small harbour on the north coast, east of Vela Luka. The port keeps 40 m of its quay for visiting boats. The breakwater head and the 50 m of quay beside it are for the ferry, and the rest is for local boats. (Official source, 30 Sep 2026) Boats berth on the inside of the breakwater or on the quay, in 3 to 4 m. There are no mooring rings, and the bollards are far apart. Our cautious answer: bring long lines, and check the depth at your berth. Our skipper reviewer hasn't checked this yet. (Third-party source, 30 Sep 2026)

Prigradica is sheltered from winds from the south-east round to the south-west, but open to the bura and to easterlies, and a north-westerly sends in a swell. Our cautious answer: leave Prigradica if a bura or a strong easterly is forecast. Our skipper reviewer hasn't checked this yet. (Third-party source, 30 Sep 2026)

€60 a day on the quay, 12 m boat (Official source, 30 Sep 2026)

€2.50 a metre in the other months. Anchoring in the port costs half. Metres count whole. (Official source, 30 Sep 2026)

## Swim stops on Korčula by boat

A day stop off Korčula town, in the channel behind Badija. No anchoring within 150 m of a natural beach, under the 2025 ordinance. (Official source, 25 Sep 2026) [Anchoring near beaches](https://olasail.com/moorings/anchoring-rules-and-fees/#beaches)

Badija

### Badija

A wooded islet with a Franciscan monastery, just east of Korčula town

- How to stop: The Ježevica channel off Badija is one of the port authority's anchorages: anchoring there costs €2.50 a metre a day from 1 May to 31 Oct, so €30 for a 12 m boat. (Official source, 30 Sep 2026)
- Watch for: The Lučnjak shoal lies off Badija's north coast, marked by a pole, and the passage between Badija and Planjak is shallow and unfit for navigation. The Ježevica channel, between Badija and Korčula, is 4 to 6 m deep at its north entrance, where the Križ shoal (4.9 m) lies on the way in from the north, and at least 5.4 m deep at its south entrance, between Vrnik and Korčula. Inside the channel lie the low rock Baretica, the Plovita shoal, marked by a west cardinal pole, and the Soline shoal (3 m) north-east of Cape Soline. (Official source, 30 Sep 2026)
- Rules it out: The Badija side of the Ježevica channel is sheltered from winds from the west round to the north-west, but open to the south-west, south, south-east and east, where a jugo can raise a rough to very rough sea. A strong bura makes a rough sea at the channel's north entrance. (Official source, 5 Oct 2026)
