## Day by day

Your average speed

A charter catamaran averages about 6 knots, sailing and motoring, so we start there. The daily times below are worked out along our planned line.

### Day 1, Saturday: Split to Maslinica, 14 NM

Photo: “Maslinica, marina s tvrzí 01” by [Draceane](https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Maslinica,_marina_s_tvrz%C3%AD_01.jpg), [CC BY-SA 4.0](https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0), resized

Boarding day. Ask your charter company for its boarding time. Go on to Maslinica only if you have the boat by 3 pm, so you tie up before dark. Otherwise sleep at [your base in Split](https://olasail.com/places/split/#first-day).

In Split, the morning is yours: charter companies hand over their boats from 3 pm to 7 pm (From the operator, 26 Sep 2026). At [Pazar](https://olasail.com/places/split/#provisioning), the green market by Diocletian's Palace, open in the mornings, buy fresh food for the first two days. (From the operator, 26 Sep 2026) If you have the boat by 3 pm, sail out to Šolta, so you tie up in Maslinica before dark. At Maslinica, call the marina on VHF 17 before you come in. In the evening, walk to the baroque Martinis Marchi castle on the waterfront, whose hotel restaurant opens in season. (From the operator, 26 Sep 2026)

- Under way: about 2½ h, at 6 knots
- Tonight: [Maslinica](https://olasail.com/moorings/maslinica-marina/), 2 places to stay
- Other choices: 2 other nights, 2 stops on the way

#### Where to sleep in Maslinica

The usual first night: a marina in a sheltered bay at the west end of Šolta. Go only if you have the boat by 3 pm.

- Photo: “Maslinica, marina s tvrzí 01” by [Draceane](https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Maslinica,_marina_s_tvrz%C3%AD_01.jpg), [CC BY-SA 4.0](https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0), resized Our plan [Marina Martinis Marchi](https://olasail.com/moorings/maslinica-marina/): €145 a night: €135 a day in July 2026, 12 m boat, plus €10 water and power (From the operator, 5 Oct 2026)

  Shelter:

Our cautious answer: in a strong westerly or maestral expect movement on the outer berths, and don't take the shallow passages between the islets in a jugo. Our skipper reviewer hasn't checked this yet.

  What the source says

Maslinica is sheltered from all winds, but north-westerlies and westerlies raise a chop (Third-party source, 26 Sep 2026)

Facilities: Water and power at the berth, €10 a day for a 12 m boat. The toilets and showers are included in the berth price (From the operator, 26 Sep 2026)

Booking: Ask the marina ahead, through its website, by email or by phone. [How it works](https://olasail.com/moorings/booking-a-berth/#marinas)

One other place to stay in Maslinica: Šešula bay buoys

- Photo: “Šolta Maslinica Hrvatska Uvala Šešula 2019 08a” by [Joadl](https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:%C5%A0olta_Maslinica_Hrvatska_Uvala_%C5%A0e%C5%A1ula_2019_08a.jpg), [CC BY-SA 3.0 AT](https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/at/deed.en), resized [Šešula bay buoys](https://olasail.com/places/solta/#sesula): Free with dinner (From the operator, 4 Oct 2026)

  Shelter

  Shelter:

Our cautious answer: choose the arm by the forecast, and check your anchor in a westerly or a thunderstorm. Our skipper reviewer hasn't checked this yet. Šešula is good shelter from every wind except westerlies, above all in a thunderstorm, but it depends on the arm (Third-party source, 28 Sep 2026). Only the far south-east arm is sheltered from the jugo (Third-party source, 26 Sep 2026). The north-east arm must be left when a northerly strengthens (Third-party source, 28 Sep 2026)

Booking: Book the table and the berth with the restaurant, early in July and August. [How it works](https://olasail.com/moorings/restaurant-moorings/#ask)

#### If the plan changes

Board late? Sleep at the base, then sail about 30 NM (Measured by us, 24 Sep 2026) straight to Vis town on Sunday.

2 other nights: staying in Split and Nečujam

- Photo: “Aerial view of Marina Split in Croatia” by [dronepicr](https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Aerial_view_of_Marina_Split_in_Croatia_(48608758207).jpg), [CC BY 2.0](https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/2.0), resized

Plan B Stay in [Split](https://olasail.com/places/split/), no sailing

One place to stay: Your charter base

  - [Your charter base](https://olasail.com/places/split/#first-day), marina: Included in the charter (From the operator, 7 Oct 2026)

Facilities: Water, power and showers are the marina's (From the operator, 7 Oct 2026)
- Photo: “Šolta Nečujam Hrvatska Podkamenica 2012 a” by [Joadl](https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:%C5%A0olta_Ne%C4%8Dujam_Hrvatska_Podkamenica_2012_a.jpg), [CC BY-SA 3.0 AT](https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/at/deed.en), resized

  [Nečujam](https://olasail.com/moorings/necujam-buoys/), 9 NM from Split, about 1½ h

A shorter first leg when the boat is late: a deep, quiet bay on the north coast of Šolta.

One place to stay: Nečujam quay

  - [Nečujam quay](https://olasail.com/moorings/necujam-buoys/): €36 a day on the quay, 12 m boat (Official source, 26 Sep 2026)

    Shelter:

Our cautious answer: leave Nečujam if a bura is forecast, and mind the submerged wall in Piškera cove. Our skipper reviewer hasn't checked this yet. Nečujam is well sheltered from every wind except the bura and other northerlies (Third-party source, 26 Sep 2026)

Booking: First come: pay the attendant when you arrive, and come early in summer. [How it works](https://olasail.com/moorings/booking-a-berth/#arrive)

#### Stops on the way

2 stops you could add: The Blue Lagoon and Šešula bay

- Photo: “Veli Krknjaš - panoramio” by [bruno.kostovic](https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Veli_Krknja%C5%A1_-_panoramio.jpg), [CC BY 3.0](https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0), resized

[The Blue Lagoon, Drvenik Veli](https://olasail.com/places/drvenik-blue-lagoon/), a 2 NM detour, about ½ h more

Krknjaš bay, a shallow lagoon between Drvenik Veli and the Krknjaš islets.

An underwater cable runs from the bay to Šipkova bay on Šolta, marked by a no-anchoring sign (Official source, 26 Sep 2026).

  How to stop here

Anchor (Official source, 26 Sep 2026). Shelter: Sources differ. Our cautious answer: Leave if a bura, a jugo or any southerly is forecast (Sources disagree, 6 Oct 2026).

  [Šešula bay, Šolta](https://olasail.com/places/solta/#sesula), a 2 NM detour, about ½ h more

A narrow bay next to Maslinica, with buoys and two restaurant jetties.

  How to stop here

Take a buoy (From the operator, 4 Oct 2026). Shelter: Our cautious answer: choose the arm by the forecast, and check your anchor in a westerly or a thunderstorm. Our skipper reviewer hasn't checked this yet. Šešula is good shelter from every wind except westerlies, above all in a thunderstorm, but it depends on the arm (Third-party source, 28 Sep 2026)

### Day 2, Sunday: Maslinica to Vis town, 21 NM

Photo: “J32 421 Vis-Stadt, Lučica” by [Falk2](https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:J32_421_Vis-Stadt,_Lu%C4%8Dica.jpg), [CC BY-SA 4.0](https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0), resized

The first open crossing. Leave Maslinica early, before the afternoon wind builds.

In Maslinica, cast off early: the maestral blows on many summer afternoons. (Measured by us, 5 Oct 2026) Out past Šolta, the open crossing to Vis is the longer of the week's two. Off Vis, [Stončica bay](https://olasail.com/places/stoncica/), round the corner from Vis town, is a swim at the end of it, if you want one. In Vis town, each quay has a reception with washrooms beside it, and you pay there. (From the operator, 26 Sep 2026) In the evening, Lola serves fish and handmade pasta in a garden with stone walls and olive trees; book ahead. (From the operator, 5 Oct 2026)

- Under way: about 3½ h, at 6 knots, an open crossing
- Tonight: [Vis town](https://olasail.com/moorings/vis-town-harbour/), 3 places to stay
- Other choices: 2 other nights, 2 stops on the way

#### Where to sleep in Vis town

- Photo: “J32 421 Vis-Stadt, Lučica” by [Falk2](https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:J32_421_Vis-Stadt,_Lu%C4%8Dica.jpg), [CC BY-SA 4.0](https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0), resized Our plan [Vis town quay](https://olasail.com/moorings/vis-town-harbour/): €119.15 a day on the quay in 2026, 12 m boat (Measured by us, 26 Sep 2026)

  Shelter:

Our cautious answer: in a bura or a jugo expect a rough night on the town quay, and strong gusts in any other wind. In a strong maestral expect Kut to be the more exposed side. Our skipper reviewer hasn't checked this yet.

  What the source says

Vis harbour is open to the bura and the jugo, and every wind blows hard here, the bura and the jugo most of all (Third-party source, 28 Sep 2026). The Kut side is open to northerly and north-westerly winds (Third-party source, 26 Sep 2026)

Facilities: About 60 yachts on the main quay and 40 in Kut, on lazy lines, with water and power posts (From the operator, 26 Sep 2026)

Booking: First come: pay the attendant when you arrive, and come early in summer. [How it works](https://olasail.com/moorings/booking-a-berth/#arrive)

2 other places to stay in Vis town: Kut quay, Vis town and Vis town bay buoys

- [Kut quay, Vis town](https://olasail.com/moorings/vis-town-harbour/): €119.15 a day on the quay in 2026, 12 m boat (Measured by us, 26 Sep 2026)

  Shelter

  Shelter:

Treat Kut as open to the northwest and to summer squalls from the west (Sources disagree, 26 Sep 2026)

Booking: First come: pay the attendant when you arrive, and come early in summer. [How it works](https://olasail.com/moorings/booking-a-berth/#arrive)
- [Vis town bay buoys](https://olasail.com/moorings/vis-town-harbour/): €42 a day on a buoy, 12 m boat (Official source, 26 Sep 2026)

#### If the plan changes

Jugo or strong bura? Wait in Maslinica. Vis town full? [Stončica bay](https://olasail.com/places/stoncica/) is 4 NM (Measured by us, 7 Oct 2026) east, unless a bura is forecast.

2 other nights: Stončica and Komiža

- Photo: “Stoncica beach bay on Vis island, Croatia” by [dronepicr](https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Stoncica_beach_bay_on_Vis_island,_Croatia_(48693830941).jpg), [CC BY 2.0](https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/2.0), resized

  Plan B [Stončica](https://olasail.com/places/stoncica/), 20 NM from Maslinica, about 3½ h

Buoys in a quiet bay east of Vis town, for when the town is full. Not if a bura is forecast.

One place to stay: Stončica buoys

  - [Stončica buoys](https://olasail.com/places/stoncica/): Price Unknown [Tell us about the buoy price at Stončica](https://olasail.com/about/corrections/#fact=stoncica.price) a night, 12 m boat

    Shelter:

Open to the bura (From the operator, 26 Sep 2026)

Facilities: Unknown [Tell us about the number of buoys at Stončica](https://olasail.com/about/corrections/#fact=stoncica.buoys)

Booking: Usually first come: arrive early in summer. [How it works](https://olasail.com/moorings/booking-a-berth/#arrive)

  [Komiža](https://olasail.com/places/komiza/), 25 NM from Maslinica, about 4 h

Straight across to Komiža on the west side of Vis, then round the south coast to Vis town on day 3.

3 places to stay: Komiža town quay, Lučica buoys and Pol Guspu buoys

  - [Komiža town quay](https://olasail.com/places/komiza/): €95 a night: €60 a day on the town quay, 12 m boat, plus €35 for the quay charge in 2023 (Official source, 26 Sep 2026)

    Shelter:

Our cautious answer: if a westerly, south-westerly or thunderstorm is forecast, lie inside the breakwater or go round to Vis town. Our skipper reviewer hasn't checked this yet. Komiža bay is open to the west and south-west, and these winds raise high waves in it (Third-party source, 27 Sep 2026). Berths inside the breakwater are sheltered (Third-party source, 27 Sep 2026). Its buoys lie close together, are open to westerlies, and take swell in any wind with south in it. A bura blows across them in shifting gusts but raises no waves (Third-party source, 28 Sep 2026)

Booking: First come: pay the attendant when you arrive, and come early in summer. [How it works](https://olasail.com/moorings/booking-a-berth/#arrive)
  - [Lučica buoys](https://olasail.com/places/komiza/#lucica): Price Unknown [Tell us about the buoy price in 2026 at Komiža](https://olasail.com/about/corrections/#fact=komiza.buoyPrice) a night on a buoy, July 2026, 12 m boat

    Shelter:

Our cautious answer: treat Lučica as open from the west round to the south. Our skipper reviewer hasn't checked this yet. Komiža bay, where the Lučica buoys lie, is open to the west and south-west, and these winds raise high waves in it. The buoys take swell, and are exposed to any wind with south in it (Third-party source, 27 Sep 2026)

Booking: Usually first come: arrive early in summer. [How it works](https://olasail.com/moorings/booking-a-berth/#arrive)
  - [Pol Guspu buoys](https://olasail.com/places/komiza/#pol-guspu): Price Unknown [Tell us about the buoy price in 2026 at Komiža](https://olasail.com/about/corrections/#fact=komiza.buoyPrice) a night on a buoy, July 2026, 12 m boat

    Shelter:

Our cautious answer: expect swell in anything from the west to the south. Our skipper reviewer hasn't checked this yet. Westerly and south-westerly winds raise high waves in Komiža bay, where the Pol Guspu buoys lie, and the buoys take swell (Third-party source, 27 Sep 2026)

Booking: Usually first come: arrive early in summer. [How it works](https://olasail.com/moorings/booking-a-berth/#arrive)

#### Stops on the way

A lunch stop on the buoys at [Rukavac](https://olasail.com/places/vis/#rukavac) on the way round the south coast of [Vis](https://olasail.com/places/vis/). [Stiniva](https://olasail.com/places/stiniva/) is there too, for a swim from outside its cove.

In Vis town, leave early: one Split day tour's published plan reaches the Green Cave at 11:40 am. (From the operator, 26 Sep 2026) At [Rukavac](https://olasail.com/places/vis/#rukavac), take a buoy, then go by dinghy 0.8 NM to the [Green Cave](https://olasail.com/places/budikovac-green-cave/#green-cave) on Ravnik before the tours: with a ticket, you may row in and swim for 10 minutes. Back on the buoy, have lunch aboard: swimming is not allowed inside the buoy field. (From the operator, 26 Sep 2026) In Komiža, the town quay lies inside the breakwater, below the [Kaštel](https://olasail.com/places/komiza/#kastel). In the evening, the fishing museum in the Kaštel opens again, and Konoba Jastožera cooks lobster several ways; call to book. (From the operator, 4 Oct 2026)

- Under way: about 3 h, at 6 knots
- Tonight: [Komiža](https://olasail.com/places/komiza/), 3 places to stay
- Other choices: 1 other night, 4 stops on the way

#### Where to sleep in Komiža

Shelter Komiža bay is open to the west and south-west, and these winds raise high waves in it (Third-party source, 27 Sep 2026). Berths inside the breakwater are sheltered (Third-party source, 27 Sep 2026). Our cautious answer: if a westerly, south-westerly or thunderstorm is forecast, lie inside the breakwater or go round to Vis town. Our skipper reviewer hasn't checked this yet. Its buoys lie close together, are open to westerlies, and take swell in any wind with south in it. A bura blows across them in shifting gusts but raises no waves (Third-party source, 28 Sep 2026)

Facilities: On the quay the port charge includes water, power, rubbish and the washroom with showers for men and women. In 2023 it was €35 a day for a boat of 10.01 to 15 m (From the operator, 26 Sep 2026)

  Shelter

#### If the plan changes

If a westerly is forecast, stay a second night in Vis town instead.

Plan B A second night in [Vis town](https://olasail.com/moorings/vis-town-harbour/), no sailing

Shelter Our cautious answer: in a bura or a jugo expect a rough night on the town quay, and strong gusts in any other wind. Our skipper reviewer hasn't checked this yet. Vis harbour is open to the bura and the jugo, and every wind blows hard here, the bura and the jugo most of all (Third-party source, 28 Sep 2026) Our cautious answer: in a strong maestral expect Kut to be the more exposed side. Our skipper reviewer hasn't checked this yet. The Kut side is open to northerly and north-westerly winds (Third-party source, 26 Sep 2026)

3 places to stay: Vis town quay, Kut quay, Vis town and Vis town bay buoys

  Our plan [Rukavac, Vis](https://olasail.com/places/vis/#rukavac),

Clear water off the islets on the south coast of Vis, with two buoy fields. Take a buoy (From the operator, 26 Sep 2026). Shelter: Our cautious answer: leave Rukavac if a jugo is forecast, and mind the shallows in the west part. Our skipper reviewer hasn't checked this yet. The longest day. Leave Komiža at 7 am for the [Blue Cave](https://olasail.com/places/bisevo-blue-cave/) on Biševo, then make the second open crossing, to Palmižana by mid-afternoon.

In Komiža, the early start is for the [Blue Cave](https://olasail.com/places/bisevo-blue-cave/): in July and August its queues are longest from about 10 am. (Third-party source, 26 Sep 2026) At Mezuporat, you leave your boat in the bay and go into the cave on the operator's boat. (Official source, 5 Oct 2026) After the cave, cross to the Pakleni Islands and call ACI Marina Palmižana on VHF 17 before you come in. In the evening, walk over the island to Zori in Vinogradišće bay, where the local catch is grilled on the water; book online. (From the operator, 4 Oct 2026)

- Under way: about 4½ h, at 6 knots, an open crossing

- Tonight: [Stari Grad](https://olasail.com/moorings/stari-grad-town-quay/), one place to stay

#### Where to sleep in Stari Grad

Bura In strong winds, boats further out in Stari Grad bay should seek shelter in Stari Grad itself. In Zavala, a cove on the Kabal shore 1.7 NM north-west of the town, the bura and jugo can blow hard but raise no high waves, though a north-westerly makes a rough sea; Tiha, further out, is a good anchorage in all winds of moderate strength (Official source, 6 Oct 2026).

## Wind and sea, next 3 days

On day 1's leg, Split to Maslinica, Šolta. It follows the day you pick on the map, in the week or in the days.

Model forecast from Open-Meteo. Not an official forecast. Not for navigation.

Official forecast: [DHMZ marine forecast](https://meteo.hr/prognoze_e.php?section=prognoze_specp&param=jadran) (Official source, 25 Sep 2026)

How to read this forecast

Each part of the day shows its strongest hourly wind and gust, and its highest wave, in Croatian time. The words follow the Beaufort scale, and the model can't tell a real bura from any other northeast wind. Our cautious answer: weather descriptions, not a forecast: read DHMZ's forecast for sailors before you go. Our skipper reviewer hasn't checked this yet. ## What seven days from Split costs

A week on this route, 7 nights and 123 NM from Split, costs about €1,150 to €2,990 a guest for a crew of 6: about €1,150 at anchor and cooking aboard, €1,480 on the nights we plan with dinner ashore, and €2,990 in the dearest berths on a catamaran with a skipper. With no licence aboard, a skipper on the Middle style's monohull adds about €380 a guest. The boat is the middle of three Split-area companies’ late-July 2026 list prices, before early-booking discounts of up to 15%; berths are 2026 prices.

Not included: flights and transfers, the deposit (held on your card, then given back), park tickets not counted with a night, and nights we have no price for.

Many konobas let dinner guests use their buoys or jetty for free. Choose Restaurant buoys below to take one at any of your stops that has one; the dinner is in your food figure.

### How we price and measure

Reference prices, not a quote for your boat, from each marina's, buoy field's or port authority's own list. Distances are measured along our planned line with our route tool. Every distance for a changed day runs along our lines, through the stops you pick (Measured by us, 7 Oct 2026). Not for navigation.

Our plan is 123 NM. With no swim stops, the week is 67 NM to 123 NM, depending on where you spend each night. (Measured by us, 7 Oct 2026)
