Boarding day. Ask your charter company for its boarding time, and leave only when check-in leaves enough daylight for the leg to [Palmižana](https://olasail.com/moorings/aci-marina-palmizana/).

In Split, the morning is yours: charter companies hand over their boats from 3 pm to 7 pm (From the operator, 26 Sep 2026). Off the Pakleni Islands, call ACI Marina Palmižana on VHF 17 at least 30 minutes before you come in, and ask where to berth. (From the operator, 26 Sep 2026)

Facilities: Mlini has a restaurant by the beach, reached by boat or on foot from Ždrilca (Third-party source, 26 Sep 2026)

In Palmižana, cross in the morning: the maestral blows on many summer afternoons. (Measured by us, 5 Oct 2026) At [Stončica bay](https://olasail.com/places/stoncica/), take a buoy and swim off the only sandy beach on the north coast of Vis, where Restaurant Stončica stands. (Third-party source, 26 Sep 2026) In Vis town, each quay has a reception with washrooms beside it, and you pay there. Shelter:

Our cautious answer: in a bura or a jugo expect a rough night on the town quay, and strong gusts in any other wind. In a strong maestral expect Kut to be the more exposed side. Our skipper reviewer hasn't checked this yet.

  What the source says

Vis harbour is open to the bura and the jugo, and every wind blows hard here, the bura and the jugo most of all (Third-party source, 28 Sep 2026). The Kut side is open to northerly and north-westerly winds (Third-party source, 26 Sep 2026)

Facilities: About 60 yachts on the main quay and 40 in Kut, on lazy lines, with water and power posts (From the operator, 26 Sep 2026)

In Vis town, leave early: it is 26 NM to Vela Luka, and the maestral blows on many summer afternoons. (Measured by us, 5 Oct 2026) At the mouth of Vela Luka bay, [Proizd](https://olasail.com/places/korcula/) is an islet with pebble beaches and paths through pine woods, for a swim if you want one. Our cautious answer: if a strong westerly is forecast, expect waves in the harbour and movement on the berths, so double your lines and fenders. Our skipper reviewer hasn't checked this yet.

#### Stops on the way

A stop you could add: Proizd islet

- [Proizd islet, Vela Luka](https://olasail.com/places/korcula/), an under 1 NM detour, about ½ h more

An islet at the mouth of Vela Luka bay, off the west end of Korčula, with pebble beaches and paths through pine woods.

Proizd lies in the Natura 2000 site for the islet and Privala cape (HR3000152). Its 2023 management plan records anchoring on the seagrass meadows all through the season, and its rules forbid dropping an anchor on seagrass (Official source, 5 Oct 2026). No anchoring within 150 m (Official source, 25 Sep 2026) of a natural beach.

  How to stop here

Anchor. Shelter: Our measure from the chart: the bay on Proizd's south side is open to the south, south-west and west, with more than 10 NM of open water, and partly to the east and south-east (Measured by us, 5 Oct 2026).

  Shelter:

Our cautious answer: the bay opens north towards Korčula: in a bura or north-westerly, expect a surge on the quay and the moorings. Our skipper reviewer hasn't checked this yet.

  What the source says

The bura and north-westerlies raise a chop in Zaklopatica bay. The shelter from the bura is under the islet, on the inner side of the bay, where you can only anchor (Third-party source, 5 Oct 2026)

  Shelter:

Our cautious answer: berth or anchor in the inner bay, and treat the outer bay among the islets as open. Our skipper reviewer hasn't checked this yet.

  What the source says

The inner part of Polače bay is sheltered from every wind and sea, the online pilot says. The park calls it the largest and safest bay in the area (Third-party source, 30 Sep 2026)

Booking: First come: pay the attendant when you arrive, and come early in summer. [How it works](https://olasail.com/moorings/booking-a-berth/#arrive)

#### If the plan changes

If the forecast does not suit the crossing, stay another night in Zaklopatica.

One other night: a second night in Zaklopatica

Plan B A second night in [Zaklopatica](https://olasail.com/places/lastovo/#zaklopatica), no sailing

2 places to stay: Augusta Insula jetty and Zaklopatica park buoys

  - [Augusta Insula jetty](https://olasail.com/places/lastovo/#zaklopatica), restaurant berth: Free for restaurant guests a night at its jetty (From the operator, 7 Oct 2026)

    Shelter:

Our cautious answer: the bay opens north towards Korčula: in a bura or north-westerly, expect a surge on the quay and the moorings. Our skipper reviewer hasn't checked this yet. The bura and north-westerlies raise a chop in Zaklopatica bay. The shelter from the bura is under the islet, on the inner side of the bay, where you can only anchor (Third-party source, 5 Oct 2026)

Booking: Book the table and the berth with the restaurant, early in July and August. [How it works](https://olasail.com/moorings/restaurant-moorings/#ask)
  - [Zaklopatica park buoys](https://olasail.com/places/lastovo/#zaklopatica): €76 a night: €40 a night on a park buoy, 12 m boat, plus €36 for the park ticket for a boat (Official source, 30 Sep 2026)

Booking: Usually first come: arrive early in summer. [How it works](https://olasail.com/moorings/booking-a-berth/#arrive)

#### Stops on the way

A stop you could add: Saplun bay

- [Saplun bay, Lastovnjaci](https://olasail.com/places/lastovo/#swim-saplun), an under 1 NM detour, about ½ h more

A bay on the north side of the islet Mladine, in the Lastovnjaci group east of Lastovo, with the nature park's buoys.

In the nature park a boat may moor or anchor only at the marked moorings and anchorages. Anchoring anywhere else is forbidden (Official source, 30 Sep 2026).

  How to stop here

Take a buoy (Official source, 30 Sep 2026). Shelter: Our measure from the chart: Saplun is open to the north-east, west and north-west, with more than 10 NM of open water, and partly to the north. The park asks boats to leave its buoys when winds over 20 m/s are forecast (Measured by us, 5 Oct 2026).

Sail from Mljet to Šipanska Luka on Šipan, your last night before Dubrovnik.

In Polače, spend the morning at the [lakes](https://olasail.com/places/mljet/#lakes), a walk from the village: the boat's ticket doesn't cover them, so each person needs a visitor ticket too. (Official source, 30 Sep 2026) In the lakes, you may swim except where signs forbid it, but not dive. (Official source, 30 Sep 2026) By noon, leave the park: the boat's park ticket lasts until then. (Official source, 26 Sep 2026) On the way to Šipan, [Prožurska Luka](https://olasail.com/places/mljet/#prozura) has the port authority's buoys for a stay of a few hours.

- Under way: about 4 h, at 6 knots
- Tonight: [Šipanska Luka](https://olasail.com/routes/split-to-dubrovnik/#day-6), one place to stay

  Shelter:

Šipanska Luka is the most sheltered anchorage in the Koločep channel, protected from every wind and wave, but a north-westerly can raise a rough sea in the bay, and a bura brings sudden shifts and gusts that can be dangerous at anchor (Official source, 5 Oct 2026)

Booking: First come: pay the attendant when you arrive, and come early in summer. [How it works](https://olasail.com/moorings/booking-a-berth/#arrive)

#### Stops on the way

2 stops you could add: Okuklje bay and Prožurska Luka

  [Okuklje bay, Mljet](https://olasail.com/places/mljet/#okuklje), a 2 NM detour, about ½ h more

A bay on the north coast of Mljet, with a small village and its quay.

Our cautious answer: keep out of the south-west corner, and check that the anchor holds. Our skipper reviewer hasn't checked this yet. You may anchor in the bay, but the pebble bottom holds poorly. The south-west part of the bay is shallow, with a rock marked by an iron pole (Third-party source, 30 Sep 2026)

  How to stop here

Anchor (Third-party source, 30 Sep 2026). Shelter: Our cautious answer: in a strong south-easterly or south-westerly, check the anchor often. Our skipper reviewer hasn't checked this yet. Okuklje is sheltered from every wind, the online pilot says, and it calls Okuklje the most sheltered bay on Mljet; the park calls it very well protected. Very strong south-easterlies or south-westerlies set up swirling gusts (eddies) in the bay, so watch the anchor (Third-party source, 30 Sep 2026)

  [Prožurska Luka, Mljet](https://olasail.com/places/mljet/#prozura), a 2 NM detour, about ½ h more

A bay on the north coast of Mljet, behind the islet Planjak, with the port authority's buoys.

Imray's 2024 supplement says buoys now fill the bay, leaving no room to anchor (Third-party source, 30 Sep 2026).

  How to stop here

Take a buoy (Official source, 30 Sep 2026). Shelter: Our cautious answer: if a bura or a north-westerly is forecast, expect waves in the bay and check your mooring. Our skipper reviewer hasn't checked this yet. Prožurska Luka is sheltered from every wind, the online pilot says, but the bura and north-westerlies raise moderate waves in the bay (Third-party source, 30 Sep 2026)

Finish at ACI Marina Dubrovnik in Komolac.

In the morning, [Šunj bay](https://olasail.com/routes/split-to-dubrovnik/#day-7) on Lopud, a sandy beach at the head of a bay on its south-east side, is on the way, for a swim if you want one. Off Šunj, keep your anchor at least 150 m off the beach. (Official source, 25 Sep 2026) Up the Rijeka Dubrovačka, ACI Marina Dubrovnik is in Komolac, a few kilometres from the old town. (From the operator, 26 Sep 2026) Before you arrive, call the marina at least 30 minutes before you come in, and ask where to berth. (From the operator, 26 Sep 2026)

- Under way: about 3 h, at 6 knots
- Tonight: [Dubrovnik](https://olasail.com/routes/split-to-dubrovnik/#day-7), one place to stay
- Other choices: 1 stop on the way

Bridge This leg passes under the Franjo Tuđman Bridge. It has 50 m (From the operator, 30 Sep 2026) of clear height above the sea.

  Shelter:

Our cautious answer: don't come up the inlet in a strong bura. Our skipper reviewer hasn't checked this yet.

  What the source says

ACI Dubrovnik lies far up the Rijeka dubrovačka inlet, sheltered from every wind except the bura, which blows hard down it; a strong south-easterly also blows hard, and a strong jugo raises waves at the entrance. A long breakwater shields the marina from the river's current (Third-party source, 5 Oct 2026)

Booking: Book online with ACI, even on the day you arrive. [How it works](https://olasail.com/moorings/booking-a-berth/#aci)

#### If the plan changes

Leave Šipanska Luka early enough to meet the time agreed with the Dubrovnik base.

#### Stops on the way

A stop you could add: Šunj bay

- [Šunj bay, Lopud](https://olasail.com/routes/split-to-dubrovnik/#day-7), an under 1 NM detour, about ½ h more

A sandy beach at the head of a bay on the south-east side of Lopud.

No anchoring within 150 m (Official source, 25 Sep 2026) of a natural beach.

  How to stop here

Anchor (Official source, 5 Oct 2026). Shelter: Our measure from the chart: Šunj is open to the south-east and south, with more than 10 NM of open water, and partly to the east. The county's plan names it as the bay to move to from Lopud and Koločep in westerly and north-westerly winds (Measured by us, 5 Oct 2026).

## Wind and sea, next 3 days

On day 1's leg, Split to Palmižana, Pakleni Islands. It follows the day you pick on the map, in the week or in the days.

Model forecast from Open-Meteo. Not an official forecast. Not for navigation.

Official forecast: [DHMZ marine forecast](https://meteo.hr/prognoze_e.php?section=prognoze_specp&param=jadran) (Official source, 25 Sep 2026)

How to read this forecast

Each part of the day shows its strongest hourly wind and gust, and its highest wave, in Croatian time. The words follow the Beaufort scale, and the model can't tell a real bura from any other northeast wind. [How to read a model forecast](https://olasail.com/croatia/weather-and-winds/#reading-the-forecast)

[Weather data by Open-Meteo.com](https://open-meteo.com/), [CC BY 4.0](https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/). Grouped into parts of the day by OlaSail.

Our cautious answer: weather descriptions, not a forecast: read DHMZ's forecast for sailors before you go. Our skipper reviewer hasn't checked this yet. What each wind does (Third-party source, 5 Oct 2026), and which official forecast and warnings to read: [Bora, jugo and maestral](https://olasail.com/croatia/weather-and-winds/), our weather guide.

## Before you go

- Emergency: 112 for any emergency (Official source, 26 Sep 2026) 195 for sea rescue (MRCC Rijeka) (Official source, 26 Sep 2026) VHF channel 16 to ask for help at sea (Official source, 26 Sep 2026)
- One-way charter: A yacht charter from Split to Dubrovnik ends at another base, so it costs a one-way fee, €500 to €750 (From the operator, 8 Oct 2026), and [what this week costs](https://olasail.com/routes/split-to-dubrovnik/#selected-budget) includes it. Before you book travel, confirm that your charter company lets you leave the boat in Dubrovnik, and agree the handover place and time. [How yacht charter in Croatia works](https://olasail.com/charter/).
- Starting in Dubrovnik: From Dubrovnik to Split you sail the same legs, 148 NM (Measured by us, 7 Oct 2026), in the opposite order, so every day from the third has an open crossing, the last of them on the final day into Split (Measured by us, 5 Oct 2026), and the boat is due back at the base on Friday evening (From the operator, 26 Sep 2026). We plan and price this week from Split, and our day notes and Plan Bs are written for the way south. Each Plan B is another night where you are, so going north a day waiting for the weather comes out of the days the later crossings need, and the last day into Split has no Plan B. Going north you also head into the maestral, the usual summer north-westerly, strongest in the afternoon (Third-party source, 26 Sep 2026), on the crossings from Mljet to Vis. A one-way fee applies whichever way you sail. [Choosing a base](https://olasail.com/charter/bases/) compares Split and Dubrovnik. Board late in Dubrovnik? Sleep at ACI Marina Dubrovnik and leave early next morning. Buy the Mljet park ticket online (Official source, 26 Sep 2026) before you leave Šipan, and the Lastovo one online (Official source, 30 Sep 2026) before you leave Mljet. In Polače, see the lakes the afternoon you arrive, so you can leave early for Lastovo next morning.
- A loop instead: To end where you start, with no one-way fee: [seven days from Split](https://olasail.com/routes/split-seven-days/) goes out to Vis and back, and [two weeks from Split](https://olasail.com/routes/two-weeks-from-split/) sails these southern islands and comes back. [Compare the weeks](https://olasail.com/routes/#compare).
- Boarding: Ask your charter company for its boarding time. Keep ACI Marina Split as the first-night option if check-in runs late.
- The boat and crew: Space at anchor or better sailing: [catamaran or monohull](https://olasail.com/charter/catamaran-vs-monohull/). Not sure your crew can sail it alone? [Hiring a skipper](https://olasail.com/charter/skipper/).
- Forecast: DHMZ marine forecast (Official source, 25 Sep 2026). Read it every morning and the evening before each open-water leg. [Our weather guide](https://olasail.com/croatia/weather-and-winds/#forecast).
- Booking stops: Check the reservation process for every overnight place before departure: [booking a berth, and when to arrive](https://olasail.com/moorings/booking-a-berth/).
- Anchoring: No anchoring within 150 m of a natural beach, under the 2025 ordinance (Official source, 25 Sep 2026). [Anchoring in Croatia](https://olasail.com/moorings/anchoring-rules-and-fees/).
- At every swim stop: No anchoring within 150 m of a natural beach, under the 2025 ordinance (Official source, 25 Sep 2026) Under way, keep clear of an organised beach's rope line: at least 50 m in a boat under 15 m, 100 m in a boat of 15 to 30 m, and 300 m at 30 m and over (Article 49) (Official source, 26 Sep 2026)

### Booking the boat, skipper and berths

Chartering for this route? Agree with the charter company what it arranges, such as a skipper. Most nights are booked during the week, once you know the weather. [What to agree before you pay](https://olasail.com/charter/booking/#arrangements)

## What Split to Dubrovnik in a week costs

A week on this route, 7 nights and 148 NM from Split, costs about €1,250 to €3,100 a guest for a crew of 6: about €1,250 at anchor and cooking aboard, €1,560 on the nights we plan with dinner ashore, and €3,100 in the dearest berths on a catamaran with a skipper. With no licence aboard, a skipper on the Middle style's monohull adds about €380 a guest. The boat is the middle of three Split-area companies’ late-July 2026 list prices, before early-booking discounts of up to 15%; berths are 2026 prices.

Three ways to spend Split to Dubrovnik in a week, for 6 people

| Style | Where you sleep | Food and drink | Boat | A guest |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Budget: Anchor and cook | 2 marinas, 1 town quay, 2 buoy fields, 2 anchorages | €35 a person a day | Monohull, you sail | €1,250 |

| High: Marinas and restaurants | 3 marinas, 3 town quays, 1 restaurant berth | €130 a person a day | Catamaran with a skipper | €3,100 |

Not included: flights and transfers, the deposit (held on your card, then given back), park tickets not counted with a night, and nights we have no price for.

Many konobas let dinner guests use their buoys or jetty for free. Choose Restaurant buoys below to take one at any of your stops that has one; the dinner is in your food figure.

a night, 12 m boat
