## Week 1: Split to Šipan, 163 NM

Your average speed

A charter catamaran averages about 6 knots, sailing and motoring, so we start there. The daily times below are worked out along our planned line.

Boarding day. Ask your charter company for its boarding time, and leave only when check-in leaves enough daylight for the leg to [Palmižana](https://olasail.com/moorings/aci-marina-palmizana/).

In Split, the morning is yours: charter companies hand over their boats from 3 pm to 7 pm (From the operator, 26 Sep 2026). At [Pazar](https://olasail.com/places/split/#provisioning), the green market by Diocletian's Palace, open in the mornings, buy fresh food for the first two days. (From the operator, 26 Sep 2026) Cast off for Palmižana only if check-in leaves enough daylight for the crossing. Off the Pakleni Islands, call ACI Marina Palmižana on VHF 17 at least 30 minutes before you come in, and ask where to berth. (From the operator, 26 Sep 2026)

- Under way: about 3½ h, at 6 knots, an open crossing

  Shelter and facilities

  Shelter:

Sources differ. Our cautious answer: Don't plan a night off Mlini if a south-westerly or westerly is forecast, and expect a current of up to 4 knots in the passage in a westerly, and a strong current in any southerly, up to 3 knots in a storm jugo (Sources disagree, 6 Oct 2026)

Facilities: Mlini has a restaurant by the beach, reached by boat or on foot from Ždrilca (Third-party source, 26 Sep 2026)

In Palmižana, cross in the morning: the maestral blows on many summer afternoons. (Measured by us, 5 Oct 2026) At [Stončica bay](https://olasail.com/places/stoncica/), take a buoy and swim off the only sandy beach on the north coast of Vis, where Restaurant Stončica stands. (Third-party source, 26 Sep 2026) In Vis town, each quay has a reception with washrooms beside it, and you pay there. In the evening, Lola serves fish and handmade pasta in a garden with stone walls and olive trees; book ahead. (From the operator, 5 Oct 2026)

- Under way: about 2½ h, at 6 knots, an open crossing
- Tonight: [Vis town](https://olasail.com/moorings/vis-town-harbour/), 3 places to stay
- Other choices: 1 other night

#### Where to sleep in Vis town

  Shelter:

Our cautious answer: in a bura or a jugo expect a rough night on the town quay, and strong gusts in any other wind. In a strong maestral expect Kut to be the more exposed side. Our skipper reviewer hasn't checked this yet.

  What the source says

Vis harbour is open to the bura and the jugo, and every wind blows hard here, the bura and the jugo most of all (Third-party source, 28 Sep 2026). The Kut side is open to northerly and north-westerly winds (Third-party source, 26 Sep 2026)

Facilities: About 60 yachts on the main quay and 40 in Kut, on lazy lines, with water and power posts (From the operator, 26 Sep 2026)

Booking: First come: pay the attendant when you arrive, and come early in summer. [How it works](https://olasail.com/moorings/booking-a-berth/#arrive)

  Shelter

  Shelter:

Treat Kut as open to the northwest and to summer squalls from the west (Sources disagree, 26 Sep 2026)

Cross from [Vis town](https://olasail.com/moorings/vis-town-harbour/) to [Vela Luka](https://olasail.com/places/korcula/#vela-luka), at the west end of Korčula.

In Vis town, leave early: it is 26 NM to Vela Luka, and the maestral blows on many summer afternoons. (Measured by us, 5 Oct 2026) At the mouth of Vela Luka bay, [Proizd](https://olasail.com/places/korcula/) is an islet with pebble beaches and paths through pine woods, for a swim if you want one. Off Proizd, the Natura 2000 rules forbid dropping an anchor on the seagrass. (Official source, 5 Oct 2026)

  Shelter:

Our cautious answer: if a strong westerly is forecast, expect waves in the harbour and movement on the berths, so double your lines and fenders. Our skipper reviewer hasn't checked this yet.

  What the source says

Vela Luka harbour is sheltered from every wind, but a strong westerly sends waves in (Third-party source, 1 Oct 2026)

Booking: Ask the marina ahead, through its website, by email or by phone. [How it works](https://olasail.com/moorings/booking-a-berth/#marinas)

#### Stops on the way

A stop you could add: Proizd islet

- [Proizd islet, Vela Luka](https://olasail.com/places/korcula/), an under 1 NM detour, about ½ h more

An islet at the mouth of Vela Luka bay, off the west end of Korčula, with pebble beaches and paths through pine woods.

Proizd lies in the Natura 2000 site for the islet and Privala cape (HR3000152). Its 2023 management plan records anchoring on the seagrass meadows all through the season, and its rules forbid dropping an anchor on seagrass (Official source, 5 Oct 2026). No anchoring within 150 m (Official source, 25 Sep 2026) of a natural beach.

  How to stop here

Anchor. Shelter: Our measure from the chart: the bay on Proizd's south side is open to the south, south-west and west, with more than 10 NM of open water, and partly to the east and south-east (Measured by us, 5 Oct 2026).

### Day 4, Tuesday: Vela Luka to Korčula town, 30 NM

Photo: “J36 046 Altstadthalbinsel” by [Falk2](https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:J36_046_Altstadthalbinsel.jpg), [CC BY-SA 3.0 de](https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/de/deed.en), resized

Follow Korčula's coast from [Vela Luka](https://olasail.com/places/korcula/#vela-luka) to [Korčula town](https://olasail.com/places/korcula/#aci).

A day ahead, book ACI Marina Korčula: ACI wants a daily berth booked at least 24 hours ahead, unless the marina agrees to less, and it is yours once ACI confirms it in writing. (From the operator, 26 Sep 2026) In Korčula, charter fleets use the marina, and from Sunday to Wednesday it often has no room for visiting yachts. (Third-party source, 30 Sep 2026) Coming into Korčula town, the cathedral's bell tower is the landmark; call the marina at least 30 minutes before you come in. (From the operator, 26 Sep 2026) In the evening, walk into [the old town](https://olasail.com/places/korcula/#old-town), a walled town on a small peninsula with its streets laid out like a fishbone.

- Under way: about 5 h, at 6 knots
- Tonight: [Korčula town](https://olasail.com/routes/two-weeks-from-split/#day-4), one place to stay
- Other choices: 1 other night, 1 stop on the way

#### Where to sleep in Korčula town

  Shelter:

Our cautious answer: the east harbour around the marina is open to the bura and the jugo, so when either is forecast take a berth inside the breakwater, not on the quays outside it. Our skipper reviewer hasn't checked this yet.

  What the source says

ACI Marina Korčula is sheltered from every wind, and its long breakwater keeps out the bura's waves (Third-party source, 1 Oct 2026)

Facilities: Toilets and showers, laundry, restaurant, cash machine, parking and free Wi-Fi (From the operator, 30 Sep 2026)

Booking: Book online with ACI, even on the day you arrive. [How it works](https://olasail.com/moorings/booking-a-berth/#aci)

#### If the plan changes

Plan B A second night in [Vela Luka](https://olasail.com/routes/split-to-dubrovnik/#day-3), no sailing

One place to stay: Marina Korkyra

  - [Marina Korkyra](https://olasail.com/routes/split-to-dubrovnik/#day-3): €124 a day in July 2026, 12 m boat (From the operator, 5 Oct 2026)

    Shelter:

Our cautious answer: if a strong westerly is forecast, expect waves in the harbour and movement on the berths, so double your lines and fenders. Our skipper reviewer hasn't checked this yet. Vela Luka harbour is sheltered from every wind, but a strong westerly sends waves in (Third-party source, 1 Oct 2026)

Booking: Ask the marina ahead, through its website, by email or by phone. [How it works](https://olasail.com/moorings/booking-a-berth/#marinas)

#### Stops on the way

A stop you could add: Brna bay

  [Brna bay, Korčula](https://olasail.com/places/korcula/#brna), a 7 NM detour, about 1 h more

A bay on the south coast of Korčula, with a village and, in its north arm, Istruga cove.

Our cautious answer: check the depth and set the anchor yourself before you leave the boat. Our skipper reviewer hasn't checked this yet. In Istruga, anchor in the middle of the cove in about 4 m, on mud that holds well (Third-party source, 30 Sep 2026)

  How to stop here

Take a buoy or anchor (Third-party source, 30 Sep 2026). Shelter: Our cautious answer: if a bura or a strong northerly or north-westerly is forecast, anchor well inside Istruga or go elsewhere. Our skipper reviewer hasn't checked this yet. Only Istruga, the north arm of Brna bay, is sheltered from every wind. The bay is open to the bura, and strong northerly and north-westerly winds raise a strong chop in the harbour (Third-party source, 30 Sep 2026)

### Day 5, Wednesday: Korčula town to Zaklopatica, 22 NM

- Tonight: [Zaklopatica](https://olasail.com/places/lastovo/#zaklopatica), 2 places to stay
- Other choices: 1 other night, 1 stop on the way

#### Where to sleep in Zaklopatica

  Shelter:

Our cautious answer: the bay opens north towards Korčula: in a bura or north-westerly, expect a surge on the quay and the moorings. Our skipper reviewer hasn't checked this yet.

  What the source says

The bura and north-westerlies raise a chop in Zaklopatica bay. The shelter from the bura is under the islet, on the inner side of the bay, where you can only anchor (Third-party source, 5 Oct 2026)

Booking: Book the table and the berth with the restaurant, early in July and August. [How it works](https://olasail.com/moorings/restaurant-moorings/#ask)

One other place to stay in Zaklopatica: Zaklopatica park buoys

- [Zaklopatica park buoys](https://olasail.com/places/lastovo/#zaklopatica): €76 a night: €40 a night on a park buoy, 12 m boat, plus €36 for the park ticket for a boat (Official source, 30 Sep 2026)

#### If the plan changes

Plan B A second night in [Korčula town](https://olasail.com/routes/two-weeks-from-split/#day-4), no sailing

One place to stay: ACI Marina Korčula

  - [ACI Marina Korčula](https://olasail.com/routes/two-weeks-from-split/#day-4): €136 a day in July, 12 m boat (From the operator, 7 Oct 2026)

    Shelter:

Our cautious answer: the east harbour around the marina is open to the bura and the jugo, so when either is forecast take a berth inside the breakwater, not on the quays outside it. Our skipper reviewer hasn't checked this yet.

#### Stops on the way

A stop you could add: Badija

[Badija, Korčula](https://olasail.com/places/korcula/#badija), an under 1 NM detour, about ½ h more

A wooded islet with a Franciscan monastery, just east of Korčula town, with an anchorage in the channel behind it.

The Lučnjak shoal lies off Badija's north coast, marked by a pole, and the passage between Badija and Planjak is shallow and unfit for navigation. The Ježevica channel, between Badija and Korčula, is 4 to 6 m deep at its north entrance, where the Križ shoal (4.9 m) lies on the way in from the north, and at least 5.4 m deep at its south entrance, between Vrnik and Korčula. Inside the channel lie the low rock Baretica, the Plovita shoal, marked by a west cardinal pole, and the Soline shoal (3 m) north-east of Cape Soline (Official source, 30 Sep 2026). The channel behind Badija lies in the Natura 2000 site HR4000007. Its 2023 management plan records the seagrass meadows towards the channel almost entirely dug up by anchoring, and its rules forbid dropping an anchor on seagrass (Official source, 5 Oct 2026).

  How to stop here

Anchor (Official source, 30 Sep 2026). Shelter: The Badija side of the Ježevica channel is sheltered from winds from the west round to the north-west, but open to the south-west, south, south-east and east, where a jugo can raise a rough to very rough sea. A strong bura makes a rough sea at the channel's north entrance (Official source, 5 Oct 2026).

  Shelter:

Our cautious answer: berth or anchor in the inner bay, and treat the outer bay among the islets as open. Our skipper reviewer hasn't checked this yet.

  What the source says

The inner part of Polače bay is sheltered from every wind and sea, the online pilot says. The park calls it the largest and safest bay in the area (Third-party source, 30 Sep 2026)

Booking: First come: pay the attendant when you arrive, and come early in summer. [How it works](https://olasail.com/moorings/booking-a-berth/#arrive)

#### If the plan changes

If the forecast does not suit the crossing, stay another night in Zaklopatica.

Booking: Usually first come: arrive early in summer. [How it works](https://olasail.com/moorings/booking-a-berth/#arrive)

#### Stops on the way

A stop you could add: Saplun bay

- [Saplun bay, Lastovnjaci](https://olasail.com/places/lastovo/#swim-saplun), an under 1 NM detour, about ½ h more

A bay on the north side of the islet Mladine, in the Lastovnjaci group east of Lastovo, with the nature park's buoys.

In the nature park a boat may moor or anchor only at the marked moorings and anchorages. Anchoring anywhere else is forbidden (Official source, 30 Sep 2026).

  How to stop here

Take a buoy (Official source, 30 Sep 2026). Shelter: Our measure from the chart: Saplun is open to the north-east, west and north-west, with more than 10 NM of open water, and partly to the north. The park asks boats to leave its buoys when winds over 20 m/s are forecast (Measured by us, 5 Oct 2026).

Sail from Mljet to Šipanska Luka on Šipan.

In Polače, spend the morning at the [lakes](https://olasail.com/places/mljet/#lakes), a walk from the village: the boat's ticket doesn't cover them, so each person needs a visitor ticket too. (Official source, 30 Sep 2026) In the lakes, you may swim except where signs forbid it, but not dive. (Official source, 30 Sep 2026) By noon, leave the park: the boat's park ticket lasts until then. (Official source, 26 Sep 2026) On the way to Šipan, [Prožurska Luka](https://olasail.com/places/mljet/#prozura) has the port authority's buoys for a stay of a few hours.

  Shelter:

Šipanska Luka is the most sheltered anchorage in the Koločep channel, protected from every wind and wave, but a north-westerly can raise a rough sea in the bay, and a bura brings sudden shifts and gusts that can be dangerous at anchor (Official source, 5 Oct 2026)

Booking: First come: pay the attendant when you arrive, and come early in summer. [How it works](https://olasail.com/moorings/booking-a-berth/#arrive)

  [Okuklje bay, Mljet](https://olasail.com/places/mljet/#okuklje), a 2 NM detour, about ½ h more

A bay on the north coast of Mljet, with a small village and its quay.

Our cautious answer: keep out of the south-west corner, and check that the anchor holds. Our skipper reviewer hasn't checked this yet. You may anchor in the bay, but the pebble bottom holds poorly. The south-west part of the bay is shallow, with a rock marked by an iron pole (Third-party source, 30 Sep 2026)

  How to stop here

Anchor (Third-party source, 30 Sep 2026). Shelter: Our cautious answer: in a strong south-easterly or south-westerly, check the anchor often. Our skipper reviewer hasn't checked this yet. Okuklje is sheltered from every wind, the online pilot says, and it calls Okuklje the most sheltered bay on Mljet; the park calls it very well protected. Very strong south-easterlies or south-westerlies set up swirling gusts (eddies) in the bay, so watch the anchor (Third-party source, 30 Sep 2026)

  [Prožurska Luka, Mljet](https://olasail.com/places/mljet/#prozura), a 1 NM detour, about ½ h more

A bay on the north coast of Mljet, behind the islet Planjak, with the port authority's buoys.

Imray's 2024 supplement says buoys now fill the bay, leaving no room to anchor (Third-party source, 30 Sep 2026).

  How to stop here

Take a buoy (Official source, 30 Sep 2026). Shelter: Our cautious answer: if a bura or a north-westerly is forecast, expect waves in the bay and check your mooring. Our skipper reviewer hasn't checked this yet. Prožurska Luka is sheltered from every wind, the online pilot says, but the bura and north-westerlies raise moderate waves in the bay (Third-party source, 30 Sep 2026)

Leave [Korčula town](https://olasail.com/places/korcula/#aci) through Pelješac Channel, then cross to [Sućuraj](https://olasail.com/routes/two-weeks-from-split/#day-10) at Hvar's east end.

- Under way: about 3 h, at 6 knots, an open crossing
- Tonight: [Sućuraj](https://olasail.com/routes/two-weeks-from-split/#day-10), one place to stay
- Other choices: 1 other night

#### Where to sleep in Sućuraj

Facilities: The port authority names no water, power or showers for visiting boats. There is no mechanic or boat parts in the village; the port authority sends you to Makarska on the mainland. The village has a shop, a post office, a cash machine and a clinic (Official source, 5 Oct 2026)

Booking: First come: pay the attendant when you arrive, and come early in summer. [How it works](https://olasail.com/moorings/booking-a-berth/#arrive)

#### If the plan changes

If the forecast does not suit the crossing, stay another night in [Korčula town](https://olasail.com/places/korcula/#aci).

Run west from [Sućuraj](https://olasail.com/routes/two-weeks-from-split/#day-10) along Hvar's north coast, then cross the Hvar Channel to [Bol](https://olasail.com/places/brac/#bol).

In Bol, [Zlatni Rat](https://olasail.com/places/zlatni-rat/) is a short walk from the harbour: a pebble spit just west of the town that changes shape and position with the wind. (Official source, 26 Sep 2026) From the centre, a boat line also runs to the beach. Shelter:

Our cautious answer: don't lie on the Bol quay in a jugo or any southerly. Our skipper reviewer hasn't checked this yet.

  What the source says

Bol is sheltered from every wind except the south-west, which raises waves. The new quay east of the harbour is open to the sea, and its berths take ferry wash and onshore wind and swell (Third-party source, 28 Sep 2026)

Facilities: The port authority lists 74 m of quay in Bol, and in town shops, a clinic, a post office, a cash machine and a fuel pump for boats. Its staff in Bol answer on +385 91 737 4014 (Official source, 26 Sep 2026)

- Tonight: [Maslinica](https://olasail.com/moorings/maslinica-marina/), 2 places to stay
- Other choices: 1 other night

#### Where to sleep in Maslinica

Cross to Maslinica for the last island night.

  Shelter:

Our cautious answer: in a strong westerly or maestral expect movement on the outer berths, and don't take the shallow passages between the islets in a jugo. Our skipper reviewer hasn't checked this yet.

  What the source says

Maslinica is sheltered from all winds, but north-westerlies and westerlies raise a chop (Third-party source, 26 Sep 2026)

Facilities: Water and power at the berth, €10 a day for a 12 m boat. The toilets and showers are included in the berth price (From the operator, 26 Sep 2026)

  Shelter

  Shelter:

Our cautious answer: choose the arm by the forecast, and check your anchor in a westerly or a thunderstorm. Our skipper reviewer hasn't checked this yet. Šešula is good shelter from every wind except westerlies, above all in a thunderstorm, but it depends on the arm (Third-party source, 28 Sep 2026). Only the far south-east arm is sheltered from the jugo (Third-party source, 26 Sep 2026). The north-east arm must be left when a northerly strengthens (Third-party source, 28 Sep 2026)

  Our plan [Tatinja bay, Šolta](https://olasail.com/places/solta/#tatinja),

A buoy field in a bay on the south coast of Šolta. Take a buoy (Official source, 26 Sep 2026). Shelter: Our cautious answer: treat Tatinja as open to the jugo and leave if one is forecast, and mind the 3 m passage inside the rock. Our skipper reviewer hasn't checked this yet. Tatinja is sheltered from the maestral, the tramontana and the bura. Sources differ on the south: More magazin calls it wide open to the south, the Šolta Tourist Board sheltered from south-easterlies (Third-party source, 26 Sep 2026)

## Wind and sea, next 3 days

On day 1's leg, Split to Palmižana, Pakleni Islands. It follows the day you pick on the map, in the week or in the days.

Model forecast from Open-Meteo. Not an official forecast. Not for navigation.

Official forecast: [DHMZ marine forecast](https://meteo.hr/prognoze_e.php?section=prognoze_specp&param=jadran) (Official source, 25 Sep 2026)

How to read this forecast

Each part of the day shows its strongest hourly wind and gust, and its highest wave, in Croatian time. The words follow the Beaufort scale, and the model can't tell a real bura from any other northeast wind. [How to read a model forecast](https://olasail.com/croatia/weather-and-winds/#reading-the-forecast)

[Weather data by Open-Meteo.com](https://open-meteo.com/), [CC BY 4.0](https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/). Grouped into parts of the day by OlaSail.

Our cautious answer: weather descriptions, not a forecast: read DHMZ's forecast for sailors before you go. Our skipper reviewer hasn't checked this yet. What each wind does (Third-party source, 5 Oct 2026), and which official forecast and warnings to read: [Bora, jugo and maestral](https://olasail.com/croatia/weather-and-winds/), our weather guide.

## Before you go

- Emergency: 112 for any emergency (Official source, 26 Sep 2026) 195 for sea rescue (MRCC Rijeka) (Official source, 26 Sep 2026) VHF channel 16 to ask for help at sea (Official source, 26 Sep 2026)

## What two weeks from Split: Korčula, Lastovo and Mljet costs

The trip on this route, 14 nights and 293 NM from Split, costs about €850 to €3,450 a guest for a crew of 6, before the boat: about €850 at anchor and cooking aboard, €1,490 on the nights we plan with dinner ashore, and €3,450 in the dearest berths on a catamaran with a skipper. With no licence aboard, a skipper on the Middle style's monohull adds about €760 a guest. Add your boat quote in the calculator below.
