About OlaSail

OlaSail is an independent guide to sailing in Croatia. We publish a fact only once we have checked it, and each one shows its source and the date.

We cover routes, islands, bays and the places to stay the night: marinas, town quays (a town's public harbour wall), mooring buoys, anchorages and restaurants with a berth. We write for crews planning a charter week, and for the same crews on the boat, looking for tonight's mooring.

Who keeps OlaSail

OlaSail is published by Zukunft d.o.o., a company in Zagreb; its details are in the legal notice. Every page has a named editor, who writes it and checks each fact with its source. Pages about weather, anchoring, safety and routes also have a named skipper reviewer. When a sailor tells us what changed, we check it before the page changes.

Today one editor checks every fact, one skipper reviewer reads every safety page, there are no area stewards yet, and any sailor can tell us what changed.

Each page names its editor and, where it matters, its skipper reviewer, in the credits under its trust summary. Their profiles, the editor's and the skipper reviewer's, list the facts they look after and any ties they have.

Why we made it

Sailors ask the same questions every season. Do we need a licence? Where can we stay tonight, and what will it cost? Is this bay safe if the wind turns?

The answers are spread across forums, old blog posts and charter company PDFs. Prices, buoy fields and rules change. Without a source and check date, it is hard to tell whether an answer is current.

OlaSail puts those answers in one place and shows how fresh each one is.

What it is not

Not for navigation

Our maps are not charts, our distances are rounded and our shelter notes are not forecasts.

Safety and limits
Not copied from apps

We never copy records from other guides, apps or directories. Each fact names its source: the operator, an official source, our own visit or measurement, or a sailor who was there, or, when none of those publishes it, a named third party. It shows the label for where it comes from.

How we check facts
Not a social network

No comments, likes, followers or messages. Sailors help by reporting what changed, and an editor checks it with the source before the page changes.
