Swim stops on Šolta by boat

Most swim stops face south, towards Vis, so the jugo decides which ones work. Each row says how to stop and what rules it out.

Tatinja

Tatinja

A quiet south coast bay with a restaurant’s buoys, from Maslinica: 5 NM (Measured by us, )

How to stop
A buoy field of 16 berths in three parts, under a county concession held by TRAMAK 22 j.d.o.o. (Official source, )
Fee
Restaurant Lonely Paradise, in the bay, runs the buoys for its guests under the concession of Tramak 22 j.d.o.o. It asks €25 a night per boat from dinner guests, paid when you book (From the operator, )
Rules it out
Tatinja is sheltered from the maestral, the tramontana and the bura. Sources differ on the south: More magazin calls it wide open to the south, the Šolta Tourist Board sheltered from south-easterlies. Our cautious answer: treat Tatinja as open to the jugo and leave if one is forecast, and mind the 3 m passage inside the rock. Our skipper reviewer hasn't checked this yet. (Third-party source, )
Livka bay

Livka bay

A deep cove at the southeast tip of Šolta, facing Brač, from Stomorska: 5 NM (Measured by us, )

How to stop
There is room to anchor in Livka, often beside fishing boats. Our cautious answer: check the depth and the bottom yourself before you drop the anchor, and leave if a southerly is forecast. Our skipper reviewer hasn't checked this yet. (Third-party source, )
Fee
Only a company with a concession for that anchorage, or the port authority inside a public port, may charge you for anchoring. Anywhere else, nobody may Who may charge you
Busy
Blue Shark’s Four Islands tour from Split stops in Livka Bay for 45 minutes late in the afternoon, before returning to Split at about 19:00 (From the operator, )
Rules it out
Livka is open to the jugo but sheltered from other winds, and by day the wash from the Split Gate can make it rolly. Our cautious answer: leave Livka when a jugo or any southerly is forecast. Our skipper reviewer hasn't checked this yet. (Third-party source, )
Senjska bay

Senjska bay

A pebble cove halfway along the south coast, from Maslinica: 6 NM (Measured by us, )

How to stop
Senjska is over 20 m deep except at the heads of its arms. Our cautious answer: plan on deep water and a long chain, or a stern line ashore at the head. Our skipper reviewer hasn't checked this yet. (Third-party source, )
The rules
No anchoring within 150 m of a natural beach, under the 2025 ordinance (Official source, )
Rules it out
Senjska's east arm is well sheltered from the jugo. Our cautious answer: sources differ, so treat the bay as open to the jugo unless you are well inside the east arm. Our skipper reviewer hasn't checked this yet. (Third-party source, )

The Split Gate

The strait between Šolta and Brač. Most yachts from the Split marinas pass through it. More than 20,000 passages a year go through the Split Gate, over 10,000 each way, two to three times more in summer, and about 30% of them fast craft. On 14 Jun 2026 a passenger ship and a sailing yacht collided there. Keep a lookout astern Split vessel traffic service works on VHF channels 12 and 62, and the Split harbour area on channel 9
