Shelter by wind in Vinogradišće bay
Vinogradišće bay opens to the southwest, on the side of Sveti Klement that faces the open sea. What the county's anchorage study says, wind by wind, is below.
- Jugo and southerliesfrom the southeast to the southwest
- Open. Open to the southwest. Well sheltered from every wind but those from the south, and the inner bay is sheltered from the southeast too. The islet of Stambedar, 0.5 NM southwest of the entrance, breaks some of a southwesterly. (Official source, )
Our cautious answer: Treat the bay as open to the jugo, and leave if one is forecast.
Sheltered from every wind except southerlies: More magazin: Zašto Pakleni otoci tako silno privlače nautičare (Third-party source, )
Sheltered from the bura and the jugo, open to the south-west. An unmarked 4 m shoal lies east of Stambedar islet: CV Sistemi (SmArtNav): peljar.cvs.hr: Prvi hrvatski on-line peljar Jadranskog mora (online Adriatic pilot) (Third-party source, )

- Sheltered, the county's study says, in the words above. (Official source, )
The approach. East of the islet of Stambedar are the Pločice rocks and an unmarked shoal of 4 m. The head of the bay is shallow. (Official source, )
The bay is part of the Natura 2000 site Pakleni otoci. Much of its sandy floor is covered with Posidonia seagrass. (Official source, )

The Vinogradišće buoys on our routes
- Day 4 of Seven days from Split ends at Palmižana. Our line stops in the ACI marina bay on the north side; these buoys are its other way to spend the night.
- On day 5, the beach at the head of Vinogradišće bay is a swim stop before you leave for Stari Grad.
- The other bays and the marina: the Pakleni Islands by boat. The island they lie off: Hvar by boat.
What sailors told us
From sailors after a night here. They tell us what to check next, and don't count in the checks above.
Vinogradišće bay, Sveti Klement
Walking a few minutes over the hill from the marina in late August 2025, they found Vinogradišće bay with its beach, restaurants and a large field of buoys, and planned to take a buoy there instead of a marina berth on their next visit.
